26 January — International Day of Clean Energy

For millions of people around the world, clean energy is not an abstract climate goal. It means a warm home in winter, a resilient business protected from rising energy costs, and clean air that children can safely breathe. It is in this human dimension that the success of the energy transition is measured today.
And this is where SQB’s story stands out.
Behind the numbers are real changes.
SQB invests in its own renewable energy generation, turning strategy into tangible results: installed renewable energy capacity has reached approximately 1,700 kW, and in 2025 alone the Bank generated around 1.8 million kWh of clean electricity - energy that works every day for people, businesses, and the economy.
This contribution is reinforced by international recognition. In 2023 and 2024, SQB confirmed its use of renewable electricity through I-REC certificates, becoming part of the global system of trust in clean energy.
But the true impact of clean energy begins when it becomes accessible to others.
Through its portfolio of green financial products, SQB channels capital into the real economy, supporting households, small and medium-sized enterprises, and corporate clients in their transition toward energy-efficient and renewable solutions:
- Yashil ta’mir / Green Komfort - green loans for individuals to support environmentally responsible home renovation and the installation of renewable energy systems (link: https://www.sqb.uz/en/esg-new/individuals-credits/ );
- Green Loan - financing for small and medium-sized businesses to implement energy-efficient technologies (link: https://www.sqb.uz/en/esg-new/business-credits/ );
- Green Energy Microloan and Corporate Green Loan - support for corporate projects in the field of clean energy (link: https://www.sqb.uz/en/esg-new/corporations-credits/ ).
Commitment to sustainability is also reflected in the Bank’s infrastructure. All 39 SQB offices have obtained international EDGE certification. For this systematic approach, SQB was awarded the EDGE Champion status, becoming the only bank to receive this recognition.
On the International Day of Clean Energy, SQB’s experience demonstrates that when sustainable finance becomes part of an organization’s DNA, clean energy moves beyond slogans - it becomes a measurable outcome, reflected in kilowatt-hours generated, investments mobilized, and trust in the future.
This progress would not have been possible without strong partnerships and shared commitment. SQB extends its sincere appreciation to its partners, government counterparts, and dedicated engineers whose expertise, collaboration, and belief in clean energy have turned ambition into action. Together, these collective efforts are helping to build a more resilient energy system and a more sustainable future.
