Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank (SQB) has achieved a significant milestone in its sustainability journey as Sustainable Fitch upgraded the Bank’s ESG Entity Rating to ‘2’ from ‘3’, with its overall entity score rising from 59 to 64.

The upgrade reflects SQB’s continued progress in strengthening its ESG strategy, expanding sustainable finance solutions, and enhancing the transparency and quality of its ESG disclosures.
The improved rating recognizes the Bank’s consistent efforts to integrate sustainability principles into its business strategy and operations. SQB’s updated 2027–2029 Strategy further reinforces this commitment by placing greater emphasis on supporting clients in their transition toward net zero, strengthening ESG integration across governance and risk management, and further enhancing transparency and disclosure.

Advancing Sustainable Finance
SQB continues to strengthen its role in financing Uzbekistan’s transition toward a greener and more sustainable economy. As of May 2026, the Bank had provided USD 708 million in sustainable financing, achieving 94% of its USD 750 million target for 2020–2026. Looking ahead, SQB aims to further expand its green finance portfolio, with a target to increase the share of green loans to 30% of its total loan portfolio by 2030.

Stronger ESG Performance Across All Dimensions
Sustainable Fitch assigned SQB a ‘2’ rating across its environmental, social and governance profiles, highlighting improvements across several key areas. The assessment recognizes the Bank’s progress in climate-related disclosures and long-term decarbonisation targets, as well as its strong governance practices. The Bank’s adherence to international labour and human rights standards, alongside its continued support for customers and local communities, further contributes to its strengthened ESG profile.

A Milestone in SQB’s Sustainability Journey
The upgrade by Sustainable Fitch represents an important recognition of SQB’s ongoing efforts to embed sustainability into its long-term business development. With its strengthened ESG framework, expanding sustainable finance portfolio and ambitious long-term targets, SQB remains committed to supporting Uzbekistan’s transition to a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient economy.
