International quality standards are implemented in the production of building materials

On June 20 of the current year in the Agency of Information and Mass Communications in cooperation with the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Uzbekistan, "Uzpromstroymaterialy" Association, Uzpromstroibank and Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation held a press conference on "Quality and control in production and use of building materials". Officials, sphere specialists and mass media representatives took part in it.
In the second quarter of this year, construction materials industry produced products worth 5.1 trillion soums, which grew by 104.7 percent. In particular, 2.5 million tons of cement, 7.6 million square meters of building glass, 13.0 million square meters of drywall, 6.4 million square meters of ceramic tiles and 400 thousand rolls of wallpaper were produced.
According to the parameters of balance of production and use of cement, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers in 2023, this year planned to produce 17.0 million tons of products, 7.6 million tons of which are sold through exchange trades. In the first quarter of this year, this indicator was implemented in the amount of 2.5 million tons.
At the press conference it was reported that by the end of the year will be launched production capacity of 5.8 million tons of cement. Thus, in the country's production capacity of this product will be brought up to 32 million tons.

In order to implement investment programs in the industry, the development of 193.9 million dollars for 27 projects is planned. In this direction according to the address program developed for the current year in accordance with the resolution of the President of the country by December 28, 2022 "About realization of the Investment program of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2023-2025" in the first quarter of the year 17,7 million dollars are mastered, the plan is realized on 100,8 percent. It is noteworthy that the launch of 9 projects and creation of 840 new jobs are envisaged at the expense of these funds.
During the reporting period, exported building materials such as PVC profiles and pipes 14.0 million dollars, aluminum profiles at 8.1 million dollars, ceramic tiles and ceramic products at 11.2 million dollars, dry building mixes and cement materials at 8.3 million dollars, wallpaper at 9.7 million dollars.
According to the analysis, the production of construction materials worth 35.3 trillion soums is expected this year. Of these products worth 1 billion dollars will be exported to foreign markets.
The event also presented information on the work to strengthen quality and control in the construction materials industry.
It was noted that 1,387 international ISO and EN standards were introduced for this purpose. At present, 2,264 out of 2,797 standards defining requirements and test methods in the construction and building materials industry have been harmonized with international standards.
