European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) highly appreciated the contribution made by JSCB Uzpromstroybank to the development of the green economy

This year, Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the EBRD was held in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia. On the Trade Facilitation Programme session, EBRD awarded Uzpromstroybank as the best “green” bank for the fourth time in a row.

It should be stated that “green” banking has become an important area of specialization of Uzpromstroybank. Within the ongoing transformation process of the bank, a number of international financial institutions, in particular, EBRD, are putting forward promising “green” initiatives.

For example, both parties have implemented more than 400 projects in the field of environmental protection, introduction of energy-saving and renewable energy sources, as well as financial support for medium-sized businesses.

Effective work has been carried out on mechanisms for financing green economy and risk sharing.

As a result, the size of the bank’s “green” loan portfolio amounted to USD 567 million today, in particular, USD 247 million in 2023, and USD 86 million has been allocated for green purposes this year. As a result, roughly 6,800 job positions have been created.

On the 33rd Annual Meeting of the EBRD Board of Governors held on May 14, 2024, in Yerevan, Uzpromstroybank was awarded with the “Green Trade Deal of the Year” award.

Thus, the quality of the Bank’s services in the field of trade finance was highly appreciated.

It also should be noted that last year the Annual Meeting of the EBRD Board of Governors was held in Samarkand, at which the EBRD awarded Uzpromstroybank as the “Best Green Project of the Year” within the framework of the “Trade Facilitation Programme”.
