New Deposit Protection Law – Your Savings Are Secure

On February 18, 2025, a new law "On Guarantees for Protecting Deposits in Banks" was signed, further strengthening the security of your savings. According to this law, the guaranteed deposit amount per depositor in a single bank is now 200 million UZS.

✔ What does this mean for you?

• If your deposit was placed before the law came into effect, it is fully guaranteed regardless of the amount.
• If your deposit does not exceed 200 million UZS, it is 100% protected.
• If your deposit exceeds 200 million UZS, you can still safely keep your funds in the bank – this is safer and more beneficial than storing them at home. The guarantee applies only to the specified amount, while the remaining funds are secured under the bank’s contractual obligations.

✔ What has changed?

• Guarantees now apply not only to individuals but also to businesses, including individual entrepreneurs.
• The compensation payment period has been reduced from 83 to 20 working days, and in the future, it will be further shortened to 7 working days.
• If you do not claim your compensation within the set timeframe, you can withdraw your funds at any time.
