How to Issue a Bank Card for a Child Under 16

Many parents ask: is it possible to issue a bank card for a child if they do not yet have a passport?
The answer is yes, provided certain conditions are met.

Who Is Eligible for the Card

Until the age of 16 (before obtaining a passport), a child’s bank card can be issued with the participation of one of the parents or a legal representative.

How It Works

The card issuance procedure is as follows:

• the parent (legal representative) issues a bank card in their own name
  (if they do not already have an active bank card);

• based on the parent’s application, an additional bank card in the child’s name is issued.

Such a card allows the child to use funds under parental supervision and helps gradually develop financial responsibility.

Required Documents

To issue a bank card, the parent (legal representative) must personally visit the bank and provide the following documents:

• an identity document;

• PINFL (Personal Identification Number of an Individual);

• the child’s birth certificate.
